Short-term Outreach Trips

Sponsored by congregations in the Presbytery

First Presbyterian Church, Greeley, CO in conjunction with Sports Friends

Location: Langano, Ethiopia Dates: July 24-August 3 , 2014 Cost: $3,500 Leader: Curtis Sears Sports camps are a critical element of the overall Sports Friends strategy and a natural extension of their existing community-based ministry programs. Deep relationships are formed, the good news of God’s love is shared, and campers are impacted for eternity. As these young people enjoy sports, games, crafts, music, good food, warm beds, and lots of love, they encounter God in powerful ways. The soccer camp has nearly 100 boys from several locations within Ethiopia. As you humbly sacrifice to participate in God’s redemptive work, SIM believes it will be one of the best weeks of your life. You do not have to be a serious athlete to serve at camp. As you help with crafts, lead music, take pictures, administer first aid, or provide sports instruction, your primary role is simply to lavish God’s love upon these young people. Email Curtis Sears or call 970-352-3030 for more information.

Sponsored by organizations outside the Presbytery

FFH Food for the Hungry works in more than 26 developing countries. This organization provides disaster and emergency relief, and implements sustainable development programs to transform communities physically and spiritually. At least one congregation in the presbytery has had a substantial involvement with this organization, including a pastor spending two years in the eastern Congo and members of the congregation participating in several construction trips nearby communities in Uganda and Ghana. This organization sponsors two kinds of short-term trips, working trips and vision or learning trips. You will provide critical assistance as you work alongside Food for the Hungry’s long-term missionaries, national staff and local community members to make a lasting impact in a hurting community.
